Ingredients

  • 2 lbs tuna steaks
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder divided
  • 1 ½ tsp ground ginger divided
  • 3 tsp sesame oil divided
  • 1 bag coleslaw mix or broccoli slaw mix
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • 1-2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 cup roasted peanuts chopped

Method

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, rice vinegar, honey, soy sauce, 2 tsp of sesame oil, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste, and red pepper flakes if using. Once combined, pour in the bag of slaw and stir to coat. Place this in the fridge to chill while you sear the tuna steaks.

Sear them in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from heat and serve next to the slaw. Other optional sides: roasted potatoes, rice, teriyaki noodles.
