Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 6 -8
Course: Main Course
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil (canola, vegetable, or avocado)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1-1 1/2 cups broth (beef or chicken)
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes or 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • sides for serving (mashed potatoes or rice, salad or veggies)

Equipment

  • 1 Grill or grill pan

Method

  1. Assemble the patties by combining ground beef, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and divide into 8 patties. Grill at 350-400 degrees for about 5 minutes per side.
  2. While the grill heats and the patties cook, make the gravy. In a skillet, whisk together the flour and oil over medium-med high heat until there are no lumps. Stir continuously until it's about the color of peanut butter or a little darker. Pour in 1 cup of broth, stirring to combine, salt & pepper to taste, and the tomatoes.
  3. Stir well and allow to come to a simmer. Turn the heat down to low/medium low, and allow to simmer until thickened to your taste. If it's too thick, add a little more broth until desired consistency. If using fresh cherry tomatoes, cook at least until they burst.
Once the gravy is done, and the patties are cooked, plate it up! I like serving this over mashed potatoes with a scoop of the gravy on top. Rice would also work. A side salad or other green veggies pairs perfectly.
