Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 6 -8
Course: Main Course
Cuisine: American, Mediterranean

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef or lamb or a combination
  • ½ red onion grated
  • ½ red onion sliced thin for topping
  • 2 tbsp garam masala
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Naan or pita bread for serving
  • Toppings of choice: kalamata olives, feta cheese, sliced red peppers, banana peppers, sliced tomatoes, sliced onion, tzatziki, hummus, sliced cucumber
  • sides: sweet potato or regular fries, or Greek salad

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, combine the ground meat, grated onion, garam masala, and salt & pepper to taste. Combine well. Place parchment paper on a baking sheet and spread the meat mixture out. Spread evenly across the sheetpan, and then lightly score it into “logs”. Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  2. While the meat bakes, prepare the toppings and warm the bread.
  3. When the kebab meat is done, allow it to rest for a couple minutes, then slice where you scored it prior to baking.
To serve, take a couple of the kebab pieces and put onto naan or into pita pocket, and fill with toppings of choice. Goes well with fries and/or salad.
