Firecracker Bowls are a fast, customizable weeknight dinner that delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Because each bowl is built individually, everyone in the family can tailor the heat level and toppings to their liking!
Ingredients
Method
- Start by making the rice according to package instructions. Next, brown the ground beef (or chicken) with the sliced bell pepper. Season with granulated garlic, ginger, salt and pepper to taste, and if using, red pepper flakes.
- While the meat cooks, make the sauce by whisking together the soy sauce, vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and sriracha. When the meat is cooked through and broken apart, and the pepper is softened, stir in the sauce. Simmer lightly for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble bowls with rice as base for the meat and sauce, and whatever toppings you like.
This is very customizable. For example, some people in my family like very spicy food, others don't like spicy at all. So I don't use the red pepper flakes or srircha while cooking, but put both out with the toppings so that each person can add as much as they like!
